What is the procedure for renaming?

1. Individuals or guardians who need to change their names apply to the local police station where they are registered, and write down the reasons for changing their names completely;

2. Go to the household registration authority of the local police station, and the household registration authority may require the applicant to issue a certificate of change or correction when it deems it necessary;

3. When a person under the age of 18 needs to change his name, his parents or adopters shall apply to the household registration authority for registration of change; At the age of eighteen, I shall apply to the household registration authority for registration of change.

Legal basis: Article 17 of the Regulations of People's Republic of China (PRC) Municipality on Household Registration.

Article 18

Citizens who change their names shall be handled in accordance with the following provisions:
