CRN is the abbreviation of Canadian registration number. According to the Canadian standard CSA-B5 1, boilers and pressure vessels installed and used in Canada must be certified by CRN in the local provincial safety supervision bureau and obtain the certification number-CRN. Pipe fittings include pipe fittings, flanges and valves, and must be certified by most provinces (British Columbia and Saskatchewan do not need valve, flange and B 16.9 pipe fittings certification).

To obtain CRN, the following documents shall be provided:

English drawings conforming to ASME design. Drawings shall show all information used in manufacturing, including dimensions, mutual position, materials, weld symbols and dimensions, design parameters, pressure test, corrosion redundancy, nondestructive testing, etc.

Qualified calculation. Product design should be carried out according to ASME. The stress analysis (finite element) of pressure vessels and valves with nonstandard design shall be carried out according to section VIII- 1 U-2(g) or explosion test according to UG- 10 1.

Manufacturer's ASME U certificate or ISO.

Application form.

Application fee. Charge by the hour. The ellipsis is different. Usually one hour 130 or so.

Accessories certification also provides a legal statement. Its purpose is to ensure that the person in charge of the manufacturer manufactures the equipment according to its quality assurance procedures. Because the manufacture of accessories does not need the inspection and signature of the inspector of the State Committee.

What does CRN stand for?

CRN usually consists of one letter, four numbers, a decimal point followed by one to ten numbers or three letters. The number after the decimal point represents the province where the product is registered:

1- British Columbia; 2- Alberta; 3- Saskatchewan; 4- Manitoba; 5- Ontario; 6- Quebec; 7- New Brunswick; 8- Nova Scotia; 9- Prince Edward Island; 0- Newly discovered land; T–Northwest China; Y- Yukon territory; Nu Loewit.

For example, M4567. 19T means that the design with CRN number M4567 was first registered in BC province, and then registered in PEI and NT.

Certification is generally divided into single provincial certification and national certification. If the equipment is installed once, it only needs to be certified in the province where it is installed. But this certification is only valid in this province. If the equipment is sold to the whole country, it must be certified in each province. Once the first province has approved the design, the certification of other provinces will be much easier.
