The women’s gymnastics team finals of the 13th National Games in September 2017 came to an end on the evening of the 3rd at the Tianjin Haihe Education Park Sports Center Gymnasium. After four rounds of fierce competition, the Guangdong team led by teenagers Chen Yile and Liu Tingting won the championship with 216 points. Wang Yan's Beijing team won the runner-up, and the previous champion Shanghai team, which included famous players Fan Yilin and Mao Yi, won the bronze medal.
The qualifying competition for the women’s gymnastics event in this National Games ended on September 1. After the qualifying round, the top eight teams from Guangdong, Beijing, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Hunan, Henan, Hubei and Hebei advanced to the women's team finals. The top two qualifying teams, Guangdong and Beijing, were placed in the same group in the finals.
The Guangdong team led by Chen Yile and Liu Tingting, who ranked first and second in the individual all-around preliminaries, had an absolute advantage on the balance beam. Liu Tingting got good scores in the first three vaults, uneven bars and balance beam, but made mistakes in the floor exercise competition. Rookie Chen Yile scored the second highest score in the competition on the uneven bars and balance beam. She even got the highest score in the floor exercise, which was very impressive. Liu Tingting, captain of the Guangdong women's team, played a major role in this victory. As a leader in the new Olympic cycle of Chinese women's gymnastics, Liu Tingting used her rich experience in competitions to control the situation on the field.
In the end, after two National Games, the Guangdong Women’s Gymnastics Team once again won the women’s gymnastics team championship with absolute strength. This is the 27th competitive gold medal for the Guangdong delegation in this National Games. It is also the first time that Guangdong women’s gymnastics has won the National Games team championship after 12 years.
