The 2023 World Table Tennis Championships is the 57th World Table Tennis Championships. The finals of the event will be held at the Durban International Conference Center in South Africa from May 20 to 28, 2023. This is the first time the World Table Tennis Championships has entered Africa since it was held in Cairo, Egypt in 1939.

In the mixed doubles final, Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha defeated Japanese team Satoshi Harimoto/Hina Hayata 3-0 to achieve two consecutive World Table Tennis Championships mixed doubles titles. In the men's doubles final, Fan Zhendong/Wang Chuqin defeated Korean team Zhang Yuzhen/Lin Jongxun 3-0 to win the men's doubles championship for the first time.

In the women's doubles final, Chen Meng/Wang Yidi defeated South Korean team Tian Zhixi/Shin Yubin 3-0 to win the championship. In the women's singles final, Sun Yingsha defeated Chen Meng 4-2 and won her first World Table Tennis Championships singles championship. In the men's singles final, Fan Zhendong defeated teammate Wang Chuqin 4-2 and won the championship.

On October 28, 2020, the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Annual Congress was held online for the first time, with 90 votes (69.77%) in Durban, South Africa. The right to host the 2023 World Championships was won by defeating Germany's Dusseldorf, which received 39 votes (30.23%). Durban became the second African city to host the Table Tennis World Championships since Cairo in 1939.

The ITTF will continue to introduce a new World Table Tennis Championships finals model starting in 2021, that is, players/teams must pass the intercontinental qualifying tournament to qualify for the World Table Tennis Championships finals. The draw ceremony for the 2023 World Table Tennis Championships will be held on May 18.
