2.LSB project was originally initiated in1May, 1998, and its project launch statement was supported by Linus Torvalds, Bruce Perens, Eric Raymond and others. At that time, the goal was to establish a series of standards that should be followed in building Linux distribution and provide a reference platform. In May 2000, LSB became a working group of Free Standards Group (FSG).
