Ma Liang (187-222), named Jichang, was a native of Yicheng, Xiangyang (now south of Yicheng, Hubei Province). He was a famous minister of the Shu Han Dynasty and the brother of Ma Su, a general of Shu. The five brothers are all talented and famous. Ma Liang has white hairs on his eyebrows. People in his hometown say: "Ma's Wuchang family has white eyebrows that are the best." He has a very good relationship with Zhuge Liang, which can be seen from two things: When Zhuge Liang followed Liu Bei to Shu, Ma Liang wrote to Zhuge Liang saying that Luocheng (now Guanghan County, Sichuan) has been captured, and my brother should display his ambitions. Take advantage of the victory and move forward. Based on this, people speculate that he and Zhuge Liang may be brothers or related. Zhuge Liang was older, so he called Liang his brother. (The relationship between Ma Liang and Zhuge Liang is quoted in "Three Kingdoms - Pei Song's Notes"). Ma Liang was ordered to go as an envoy to Soochow. He asked Zhuge Liang to write a letter of recommendation to Sun Quan. Zhuge Liang asked him to draft it himself and sign it. The last two sentences hope that Sun Quan "will surrender his heart and accept it, so as to comfort the general's life." After Sun Quan saw the letter, he treated him respectfully. In the first year of Zhangwu (AD 221), Liu Bei sent him to Wuling (today's southwestern Hunan Province) to unite with "barbarians" to help Shu conquer Wu. He succeeded and was highly regarded by Liu Bei. Later, in the Battle of Yiling, Liu Bei was defeated and Ma Liang was also killed. The five Ma Liang brothers were famous for their talents when they were young. There is a proverb in the village: "The Wuchang of the Ma family is the best, and the white eyebrows are the best." Chen Jichang, Taichang Shaoqing and Minister of the Ministry of Industry, was a gallant, good drinker, wild and arrogant, so he was not recognized for his talents, so he angrily "destroyed his clothes, abandoned his carriage and horses, and fled to the mountains and forests" ("Huanggang County Chronicles 6.1 Historic Sites"), so he "escaped". In today's Sandian Street, that is, Longqiu, people like this were wealthy even if they lived in seclusion. He liked singing girls ("prostitute" is hard to hear, but singing girls are definitely not today's prostitutes), and his family kept a large group of "everyone". Whenever guests come, they will entertain them with singing girls" (that is, perform for the guests). His wife's name is Liu Yue'e, and she is a "jealous person". She usually stays with her husband to prevent "accidents"; but at that time, women's status was low, and there were guests She had to avoid him when he came, but she had her own way. Whenever Chen Jichang was drinking with her guests, she would bang her wooden stick on the wall in the neighboring room and yell, which made Chen Jichang very embarrassed. When Su Dongpo was demoted to Huangzhou, he paid a visit to Chen Jichang. Seeing how powerful Chen's wife was, he wrote a poem to tease her: The layman Longqiu was also pitiful. It is the name of an ancient county, and the surname Liu belongs to a prominent family in Hedong. The lion's roar is a metaphor for majesty in Buddhism, and Chen Jichang likes to talk about Buddhism, so Su Shi wrote it. From then on, "Hedong lion's roar" became a metaphor for a fierce woman and became an idiom.
