A historical figure, Qiu Chuji, whose name is Tong Mi and Tao name is Chang Chunzi, also has an important identity, that is, he is the founder of Quanzhen religion and the religious leader in charge of Taoism in the world. Known as a famous real person of Quanzhen religion in Jin Dynasty, he is also a thinker, Taoist leader, politician, writer, health care scientist and medical scientist, and enjoys a high reputation among the people.
Qiu Chuji was single-minded, so he became a monk at Kunyu Mountain in Ninghai when he was 19 years old. He began to learn Taoism from 1 167, and was a disciple of Wang Zhongyang. Wang Zhongyang named it Chuji, the word is dense, and named it Changchun Zi, that is, Changchun real person. After Wang Chunyang's death, Qiu Chuji gradually became the leader of Quanzhen religion. If Quanzhen religion wants to develop by leaps and bounds, it has to be close to politics. At that time, it met Genghis Khan's western expedition to the Jin Dynasty. Because Genghis Khan was 58 years old, his physical condition was not as good as before because of his long-term campaign, so Liu Zhonglu, the minister, recommended Qiu Chuji to him, saying that Qiu Chuji had lived for more than 300 years and had the skill of immortality.
Genghis Khan quickly sent someone to find Qiu Chuji. On the way to Qiu Chuji's political strategy of the Western Expedition, he wrote a book "Journey to the West by a Real Person in Changchun". Later, his disciple Li Changzhi finished the book, so the book was signed by Li Changzhi.
As early as the Ming and Qing Dynasties, people thought that this book was written by Qiu Chuji, and The Journey to the West, one of the four classical novels, was also written by Qiu Chuji, because they had the same name, which was misleading. It was not until the record of "Wu Cheng'en's Journey to the West" appeared in a local chronicle that people determined the author of The Journey to the West.
