He is not from the School of Management. He is currently a distinguished professor at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences at Nanjing University, where he studies the history of China and East Asia since the 16th century. Sun Jiang, born in 1963, is from Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province. He was admitted to the Department of History of Nanjing University in September 1981, became a graduate student at Nanjing University in September 1985, and graduated early in February 1988 with a master's degree. In April 1993, he entered the University of Tokyo to study for a doctoral degree, and received his doctorate from the University of Tokyo in June 1999. Before going to Japan, he taught in the History Department of Nanjing University; while studying in Japan, he taught East Asian history at Waseda University and Komazawa University.
