The National University of Singapore is one of the six public universities in Singapore (National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University, Singapore University of Science and Technology, Singapore Technological University, and Niigata University of Social Sciences), and it can also be said to be the first of the six public universities, ranking first in the ranking of universities in Singapore (except that 20 18 lags behind Nanyang Technological University in Singapore). Not only in Singapore, but also in Asia and the world. It ranks 1 1 in the QS World University Ranking 20 19 and 1 in the QS Asian University Ranking. In 2020, QS World University Ranking 1 1, QS Asian University Ranking 1. Its ranking in Asian universities, starting from 20 15, has been behind Nanyang Technological University 20 18, ranking second, and others are first. At the same time, it is also a member of several world university alliances, such as Pacific Rim University Alliance, Asian University Alliance, Asia-Pacific International Education Association, International Research University Alliance, Universitas 2 1, etc.
Let's talk about its professional ranking first. Its dominant disciplines are engineering, life science and biomedicine, social science and natural science, enjoying a world reputation. Its professional rankings in the past few years are shown in the figure below. The world's top majors are civil engineering, chemistry, engineering technology, pharmacy, architecture, materials science, computer science and engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, nursing, statistics and many other majors, especially chemistry, chemical engineering, engineering technology, materials science and social science and management, which have been ranked in the top 10. In its QS World University Professional Ranking of 20 19, there are 9 majors in the world 10, among which civil and structural engineering ranks second in the world, chemistry and chemical engineering ranks seventh in the world, and architecture and geography ranks eighth in the world. Electrical and electronic engineering and statistics ranked ninth in the world, and computer science and engineering and environmental science ranked 10 in the world. As can be seen from its ranking, the National University of Singapore is a comprehensive university with advantageous majors in all fields.
Second, the National University of Singapore Master Program
The characteristics of master's training in National University of Singapore are academic rigor and cutting-edge. Their purpose is to cultivate students' enthusiasm for inquiry, provide excellent opportunities for students, further develop their potential and become knowledge leaders on various career paths; Provide students with confidence and creativity to cope with intellectual challenges. It is hoped that applicants will carefully consider which postgraduate courses best suit their interests and career aspirations. At the same time, the National University of Singapore is home to teachers and students from many countries, and its teachers enjoy an international reputation for their research in many fields. They have established cooperative relations in cross-border and interdisciplinary research. Some of these cooperative projects provide students with opportunities to pursue doctoral degrees jointly awarded by the National University of Singapore and overseas cooperative universities.
Singapore * * * has the following 19 institutions offering master's programs: Faculty of Arts &; Social science); Business school; School of Computing; College of continuing and lifelong education; School of dentistry; School of Design &; Environment); School of Engineering; Law school; Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy; Graduate School of Comprehensive Science, National University of Singapore; Engineering); Saw Sweep Hock School of Public Health; School of Science; Yong Luolin Medical College; Yang Xiutao Conservatory of Music; Duke-National University of Singapore School of Medicine; Institute of Systems Science; Institute of Mechanical Biology; Institute of Risk Management, Asia-Pacific Logistics Institute. Master programs in the National University of Singapore are almost full-time and part-time according to courses and research, but part-time students generally do not accept applications. The research-oriented master and the teaching-oriented master of the National University of Singapore are different in learning content, academic system, courses, projects, application conditions, application time, graduation conditions and scholarships. For example, the teaching-oriented master is employment-oriented, and scientific research is not its focus. The research-oriented master's degree is mainly academic research, and there may be some courses to be studied, mainly to prepare for further doctoral studies. The following are introduced one by one.
Third, the research-oriented master program.
1. Project introduction
Not all the above colleges have research-oriented masters, some only offer teaching-oriented masters, and of course some only have research-oriented masters. For example, business schools and computer schools only have teaching-oriented master's programs, and research-oriented projects only recruit doctors. For example, the School of Dentistry only has research-oriented masters and doctors. You can enter the list interface of colleges through the following website, click on the corresponding college, and you can see the master's programs offered by the college and contact information. And you will find that sometimes the same project name actually belongs to two completely different master's programs in different departments. For example, as shown in the figure, there are nine research-oriented master of arts majors in the College of Arts and Sciences, but they actually belong to different colleges.

At present, the research-oriented master's programs in this university are as follows:
Of course, there are different research directions under each project. For example, there are four main research directions under the Master of Arts in Chinese Department, namely, China history, China architecture, China language and overseas China people.
For the application requirements of research-oriented master, official website has a general minimum requirement, but each project has its own specific requirements, which are introduced below.
2. Application requirements
On the following website, you can see the general requirements of the school for research-oriented masters:
http://www . NUS . edu . SG/admissions/graduate-studies/graduate-admissions . html
(1) Candidates must pass the general entrance examination (such as GRE, some majors require GRE scores, and the total score of mathematics+Chinese is generally not less than 365,438+00-320, and the writing part is not less than 3.5), or the entrance examination, or pass some specific performance standards in the interview to prove that they are ready for graduate school.
You need to get a good honorary degree or equivalent in related disciplines. Each department can also enroll outstanding bachelor degree students with relevant research or work experience independently, but it must be approved by the graduate school Council.
In addition, there is a requirement and explanation about credit transfer, which can be found on the above website.
The application requirements of each specific project can be divided into two categories, the first category is the requirements of hard conditions, and the second category is the requirements of certification materials to be submitted. Let's talk about hard conditions first.
Although GPA is not explicitly required, it is implied in the degree requirements, because Singapore's honorary degree level is divided according to your GPA, while the second-class honorary degree is equivalent to 80 points in GPA, which is 3.2 points when converted into a 4-point system. As can be seen from the table, most majors require an average score of more than 80 points. At the same time, most majors in the College of Arts and Sciences do not need GRE scores, except for the three majors of political science, psychology and social work. However, the master's program under the Faculty of Engineering and Science requires GRE scores. The requirements of TOEFL or IELTS are generally TOEFL: written test is not less than 580, or computer test is not less than 237, or online test is not less than 85 (writing part is not less than 22), or IELTS is not less than 6.0. Only the master of social science in the geography department project, the project in the science college is more demanding. The applicant's undergraduate background generally requires a second-class honorary degree or above, or a bachelor's degree with certain work experience. However, these hard standards are the minimum requirements, which does not mean that you will be admitted if you meet this standard. For example, the application requirements for Master of Arts in Southeast Asian Studies Department clearly state: "Meeting the above requirements does not mean automatically accepting the plan."
In addition to the above requirements for hard marks, you need to submit some supporting documents, such as undergraduate transcripts, English test transcripts, references' reports (letters of recommendation), research proposals (research projects), published papers, personal information, etc. Each college has different requirements for the above materials, and we will explain them one by one below.
1) College of Literature &; Social science)
(1) Each student can apply for multiple projects, but each project must be paid separately and the corresponding materials must be submitted. The application fee for each project is S $50. Please pay the application fee before submitting the application. Please refer to the figure below for details:
(2) Master of Arts in English Language Department &; For the two projects of the Department of Literature and Philosophy, you only need to submit the application and supporting documents online.
