World Cup draw rules:
1. The host South Africa automatically enters Group A and occupies the A1 position. The other seven seed teams will be drawn in the order from B to H. First place in the group.
2. After determining the seed teams of each group, the second-tier teams will be drawn in order to enter the eight groups, then the third-tier teams, and finally the fourth-tier teams.
3. When drawing lots for the bottom three teams, the group to which they belong will be drawn first, and then the team’s positions 2, 3, and 4 in the group will be determined.
4. The entire draw process will adopt the same-continent avoidance principle, that is, teams from the same continent cannot be in the same group, except Europe, but each group cannot exceed a maximum of two European teams.
2022 World Cup Grouping
First Pot: Qatar (host), Brazil, Belgium, France, Argentina, England, Spain, Portugal. Pot 2: Mexico, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Uruguay, Switzerland, United States, Croatia. Pot 3: Senegal, Iran, Japan, Morocco, Serbia, Poland, South Korea, Tunisia.
Pot 4: Cameroon, Canada, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, 3 playoff winning teams. Costa Rica from the CONCACAF and New Zealand from the Oceania Football Confederation competed for a spot, with Costa Rica advancing. AFC United Arab Emirates VS Australia will play in the play-offs.
The winner competed with South American Football Confederation Peru for a spot, and Australia advanced. Wales of the European Football Association League will play a play-off with the winner of Scotland VS Ukraine to determine a place, and Wales will advance.
