Regulations of People's Republic of China (PRC) Municipality on Household Registration

Article 7 Within one month after a baby is born, the head of the household, relatives, dependents or neighbors shall report the birth registration to the baby's permanent residence registration authority.

If an abandoned baby is abandoned, the adopter or the infant-rearing institution shall declare the birth registration to the household registration authority.

Article 8 If a citizen dies, the head of the household, relatives, dependents or neighbors shall report the death registration to the household registration authority and cancel the household registration within one month before the burial in cities and rural areas.
