International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) provides students with excellent opportunities for both academic excellence and personal development. Our school has always been committed to adopting a rigorous and comprehensive approach to academic studies. IIUM regards knowledge as given by Allah and should be applied according to His guidance for the benefit of mankind. Therefore, International Islamic University Malaysia respects the pursuit of knowledge and believes that seeking knowledge is also a kind of faith. It makes a significant contribution to the enrichment of knowledge and the development of individuals and society by organically integrating revelation knowledge with literature and science courses.
The International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) was established by the Malaysian government in 1983. It was initially jointly run by the Organization of Islamic Conferences (OIC) and several Muslim countries. In 1982, Malaysia's Prime Minister Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad took the lead in initiating the establishment of the university and established a special committee, which finally turned the idea into reality in May 1983. In order for the university to teach in English, IIUM was established in the name of a Malaysian private entity. This is because Malaysian law stipulates that public universities cannot teach in languages ??other than Malay. The school's host governments and organizations select representatives to form a board of directors to manage the university. The host governments and organizations include: Malaysia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Libya, Maldives, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the Organization of the Islamic Conference. IIUM has established close ties with some domestic and foreign associations such as the Islamic University Alliance, the International University Federation and the Commonwealth University Federation, etc. In addition, the school has established close ties with the local business community, which allows students to gain rich practical experience by applying the professional knowledge they have learned to practical work in addition to participating in formal studies on campus.
The first batch of 153 students from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) graduated in 1987. The school is proud that its graduates have made an important impact in Malaysia and many other countries. Not only do they excel in various public and private sectors, but they also achieve outstanding results in the institutions of higher learning around the world where they attend.
