She established the first molecular and bioelectronics laboratory in China and the first "bioelectronics" doctoral program in China. Firstly, the basic characteristics of molecular devices and molecular computing systems are systematically expounded internationally, and the molecular design method of molecular devices is adopted first, which is highly valued by experts at home and abroad.

Wei Yu is one of the first twelve executive directors of the International Society of Molecular Electronics and Biocomputing Systems, and also the executive editorial board or editorial board of international academic journals such as Biological Systems and Molecular Engineering.
