Impression: Mr. Ba Jin is honest, gentle and frank.
The first time was 1987. At that time, Mr. Ba Jin was not ill in bed. He was lying in a chair, still writing, and gave me his book signature. I wrote a big word "Shou" on red paper and gave it to Mr. Ba Jin, wishing the elderly a long and healthy life.
Ba Jin's life left us a very valuable spiritual wealth. He wrote and translated works of130,000 words in his life. His representative works Home, Spring, Autumn and Trilogy of Love are all monuments in the history of modern literature in China. I often take it out and see it, and I have a lot of feelings. I was particularly moved by Ba Lao's special feelings for the people. He said, "My only wish is to become a clay figurine and stay in people's warm footprints." Ba Jin has a beautiful wish in his heart: "Let everyone have a house to live in, every mouth is full, and every heart is warm." From these discussions, we can see how deep his feelings for the people are.
As a writer, Chairman of Writers Association and Vice Chairman of CPPCC, Mr. Ba Jin set a good example for future generations. He used his words and deeds to tell us how to be a writer and a public servant.
What Ba Jin saw and heard in the five-volume Random Thoughts in his later years can be said to be a realistic ideological record, which is of great academic and social value for studying that period of history.
Today's memory and commemoration is to better learn from Mr. Ba Jin's noble qualities.
Yi Shu (CPPCC member, son of Lao She, former curator of China Modern Literature Museum):
China Modern Literature Museum realized his "dream"
China Modern Literature Museum is the third milestone of Ba Jin's life. The first is home, and the second is distracting thoughts. The last two are his works, which are the crystallization of his art and thought. China Museum of Modern Literature is a masterpiece written by Ba Jin for the whole modern literature of China, which includes the achievements of all modern writers in China.
Today, we should give Ba a new definition: he is the third generation leader of China's literary world. The first generation is Lu Xun, the second generation is Guo Moruo and Mao Dun, and the third generation is Ba Jin.
In 1980s, Ba Jin proposed the construction of China Modern Literature Museum, which was finally completed after four years of preparation. 1985, Ba Jin came to Beijing to open the China Modern Literature Museum. Since then, he has been ill and hasn't been here for more than 20 years. Everyone went to the south (Shanghai, Hangzhou) to see him. 1993, Ba Jin wrote to the Central Committee and suggested building a new museum. After that, the preparations for the new museum began. 1993 to 2000 is the construction process of the new museum. We often go to the south with models and materials to ask for his advice. In addition, the Presidium of the Writers Association held many meetings, all of which went to the south and gathered around Ba Lao to listen to his teachings.
When the new building is completed, Ba Lao wants to come again, but his body is not allowed at this time. We made TV and sent photos to him, and Ba Lao laughed in his hospital bed after seeing it. At the beginning of Random Thoughts, Ba Jin wrote that he had a dream. Young people walked around in front of the literature museum, talking and laughing-the literature museum fulfilled Ba Jin's dream.
Lao She was the chairman of Beijing Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Writers Association, and Ba Lao was the chairman of Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Writers Association. Ba Jin frequently came to Beijing for meetings, and Lao She always invited Ba Jin to dinner as a landlord. Father Lao She wrote a note: "Baba: I'll treat you to roast duck at noon today, and Quanjude and Dr. Mei (Lanfang) will keep you company. Brother: Give it up. " This reflects their brotherly friendship. This kind of friendship really deserves the envy of future generations. Ba Lao is not good at words, but his character is like fire. When friends get together, he always stays alone and laughs, but it can be seen that he is in a good mood. One of Ba Lao's favorite Random Thoughts, Remembering Comrade Lao She, is a typical article in which Ba Lao attaches importance to friendship.
199 1 year, I visited the Soviet union, picked some wild flowers at the old Tolstoy manor, dried them and gave them to Ba Lao. Ba Lao, who had difficulty holding a pen at that time, spent a long time writing me a long letter. Say "I" and envy you for going to old Tolstoy's manor. Old Tolstoy has a noble quality: words and deeds are consistent. And encouraged me to match my words with my deeds like old Tolstoy. In his later years, Ba Jin highly praised "words and deeds are consistent".
Wei Minglun (Member Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Vice Chairman of Chinese Dramatists Association):
He influenced a generation. I have been influenced by the characters in Ba Jin's works since I was a child. His works described feudal families moving towards a new society and young people pursuing democracy and freedom, which touched me greatly at that time. Because of the youthful characteristics of Ba Jin's works, his works have far-reaching significance, and he has influenced an era and also influenced the youth of this era.
Ba Jin's greatest achievement was his later years, when he fully realized and woke up most thoroughly. Through his works and actions, he left two "great" spiritual treasures: one is the consciousness of repentance. In my understanding, it is to reflect on history and face it squarely, not to cover it up; The second is to advocate "telling the truth". He set an example, paid more attention to reality, even went beyond the scope of literature, and gained social knowledge and became a representative, symbol and symbol.
I have had several close contacts with Mr. Ba Jin. 1983, went to Shanghai Huadong Hospital to visit Ba Lao. As soon as he saw me, he said, "I know you." I saw you on the TV news yesterday. Your name is Wei Minglun. " "Last time Bashan Scholar and Yi Dan were performed in Shanghai, you didn't come." Three works, Yi Dare to Be Dang, Four Girls and Bashan Scholar, won the National Excellent Screenplay Award at that time. Mr. Ba Jin doesn't write plays, but he is very pleased to see the successors of Sichuan Opera. "I saw the script you wrote on TV. You won three yuan in a row. I am from Sichuan, and you and I are both scholars in Bashan. " Ba Jin said this because the protagonist in Bashan Scholar also has a process of awakening.
That meeting reminded Ba Lao of his deep nostalgia for his hometown. He has a strong memory and quick reaction. He can't speak Mandarin or Shanghainese. He speaks Sichuan dialect without changing his accent. In the chat, I mentioned that Mr. Huang gave me a Brecht book this time. Ba Lao immediately interjected: "It must be" Sichuan Good Man "!" My heart is startled, what a keen feeling! What profound knowledge! At that time, there was no translation of Sichuan Good Man in China, and even few people in the theater knew the title of the play. After nearly an hour of conversation, Ba Lao encouraged me to think more, tell the truth and write a good script.
The second time I saw Mr. Ba Jin was 1987, and Ba Lao returned to Chengdu for the last time. At that time, he named me to come to Zigong to see my Sichuan Opera and Pan Jinlian, which was controversial at that time, but I was very encouraged by Ba Lao's leading support. That was the only time that Ba Lao went to the theater after 1965. In the two-hour play, Ba Lao sat in a wheelchair, supported by people, and always looked full of energy. The people next to him were worried about Ba Lao's health and wanted to end the scene, but Ba Lao pushed others away and said, "Don't pull me, let me finish the trick!" " "
1988, I published an article in Wen Hui, and Ba Lao liked it very much and kept it on the coffee table. During that time, whenever a friend went, he introduced it as an article of our "small hometown in Sichuan", saying that it was a strange article and a wonderful article. He can recite some sentences.
According to local customs, the death of Ba Lao in his later years is a "funeral". We should not be a mere formality in commemorating Ba Lao. First of all, we should learn from him. Secondly, we should also commemorate this century writer in the spirit of "telling the truth".
Zhang Kangkang (member of CPPCC and vice chairman of Heilongjiang Writers Association):
"Telling the truth" is a great spiritual legacy he left us. At 8 pm, I learned the news of Mr. Ba Jin's death. Mr. Ba Jin has been ill in hospital, and the news arrived as scheduled. Although not surprising, this fait accompli is very distressing.
From 1970s to 1990s, I met Mr. Ba Jin several times. Mr. Ba Jin has always been the leader of my literature and life: he led me into the palace of literature, and his spirit guided my literary creation and dealing with people at the same time.
In the late 1970s, I visited Mr. Ba Jin's apartment in Shanghai. My first novel was published in Harvest magazine edited by Mr. Ba Jin. Mr. Ba Jin is my teacher of literary creation. 1979, my novella "Light Morning Fog" published in Harvest won the first national excellent novella award. At that time, Mr. Ba Jin was the director of the jury and gave high evaluation and encouragement to this work.
Mr. Ba Jin's literary creation has played a very important role for us writers who grew up in the 1970s and 1980s. As a junior, Mr. Ba Jin has a great influence on my personal literary path, ideological character and personality.
Mr. Ba Jin's spirit of "telling the truth" will always be passed down, which is a great spiritual legacy left by Mr. Ba Jin to future generations.
The direction that Mr. Ba Jin has been adhering to since the May 4th New Culture Movement. Although the New Culture Movement criticized feudal ethics, traditional dross and feudal autocracy, this critical spirit is still needed by the whole literary world in today's society. Mr. Ba Jin represents the courage of China people to "tell the truth". He has the courage and critical consciousness to face up to himself, which is very enlightening for later writers who lack critical consciousness.
Mr. Ba Jin's works are full of concern for human beings, society and personal conscience, morality and soul. At present, in the commercial field, this style and spirit of the literary world have weakened; But in the field of literary spirit, Mr. Ba Jin's important position is unshakable.
Tang Jinhai (Editor-in-Chief of Ba Jin Chronicle and Professor of Chinese Department of Fudan University in Shanghai):
He is generous, kind and affectionate. Because of the compilation of Ba Jin Chronicle, Mr. Ba Jin and I have been in contact with each other for twenty or thirty times in the hospital, in the hospital bed at home and at some meetings. For the study of Ba Jin, the compilation of Ba Jin Chronicle is very important. The Chronicle of Ba Jin takes Ba Jin's thought and artistic pursuit as the main line. From 1904 to 2004, it sorts out Mr. Ba Jin's footprints in family, life, creation and other aspects, and truly records his various contributions in his cultural and literary career for more than 80 years.
Without Ba Lao's help, the 6.5438+million-word Ba Jin Chronicle could not be compiled. For such a cross-century writer, it is very difficult to integrate many things into the compilation of historical materials.
When we visit Mr. Ba Jin, we often ask some questions. Ba Lao can give a brief answer to his early beliefs, life, family, creation, friendship and ideological changes. He often lends me some multilingual materials and books.
Sometimes in the living room, I discuss with Ba Lao, and he will suddenly stop and say "wait a minute-",then stomp his feet upstairs and show us a lot of books in his hand. We are very touched.
Ba Lao has a very good memory. He remembers all the information clearly, when it was published and in what journal. When researching the pen names used by Ba Lao, we said that he remembered which one was used and which one was fake. As far as I know, Ba Lao is at least proficient in French, Russian, English, Japanese and Esperanto, and Ba Lao can at least read and translate books in these languages.
Ba Lao has a strong personality and charm. He has no shelf, is very kind, generous and kind, and has a kind heart. Every time I go to his house, he says, "Miss Tang Xiao is here". He is not intense and impulsive, but he is firm and principled. Sometimes when something happens out of thin air, he often says, "Let bygones be bygones. If you repent yourself and others regret it, why do you insist? "
Ba Lao is not good at words, but he is full of feelings. Once he went back to his hometown in Sichuan and was invited to give a lecture. He was afraid of giving lectures, and then he ran away.
Although there are different opinions about the standards of masters, in academic sense, Ba Jin is one of the few "literary masters" in China.
Ba Jin was the last writer to leave during the May 4th New Culture Movement, and he was a link between the past and the future in the May 4th spirit. His departure marked the end of a literary century, but at the same time, the spirit of the May 4th Movement continued on his behalf.
