1. Most second-hand bookstores provide a good environment for buying books, with large space, cleanliness, few tables and chairs, and even coffee sellers.
Almost every book has been handled by the clerk and looks clean, which completely subverts my impression of the second-hand bookstore.
3. Some large second-hand bookstores (such as Hu Si second-hand bookstore and Jasmine second-hand bookstore) regularly invite writers or people in the arts and cultural circles to hold lectures or other exchange activities. I once participated in the dialogue between Chen Xue, a writer, and Fu Yuean, an executive director and writer of the bookstore, in the Jasmine Normal University store. Although there are not many people, they are of high quality and have gained a lot.
4. The location of the second-hand bookstore in Taipei is relatively concentrated (of course, the concentrated area has also changed several times, from the former Guling Street to Guanghua Shopping Mall, and then to the current residence). If you have time, you can go to Taishun Street and Yongkang Street near the residence of Normal University, and you can go shopping for a day and a half.
Many out-of-print books can hardly be found in new bookstores, but with patience and luck, they can often be found in old bookstores. For example, books on Liu Yuan movies are rarely seen in new bookstores, but many kinds can be bought in Jasmine Normal University. In addition, the same is true of historical and living serial times culture.
6. The study of second-hand bookstores in Taiwan Province Province also produced several books from Taiwan Province Province for reference. I sold Fu Yuean's Old Bookstore Map with Fish Head in a second-hand bookstore. Although the information in it is very old, it is still worth reading.
8. For well-known reasons, friends who like China's modern politics and history often want to read some books from Hong Kong and Taiwan, because even those published in Chinese mainland are castrated. Perhaps people in contemporary Taiwan Province Province are no longer interested in such subjects, so I noticed that some excellent books on current affairs and politics in contemporary China in second-hand bookstores are often neglected, and the prices are not high, so it seems that they can't sell much. For example, Highway 3 12 and He Wei's trilogy, as well as Shi Jingqian's Pursuit of Modern China, Upper Middle School and Tiananmen Square-these can often be seen in second-hand bookstores.
9. Specific to the second-hand bookstores in Taipei, in fact, each has its own characteristics, and it is a long story. Personally, I prefer to go to Jasmine Second-hand Bookstore Normal University Store, which is cheaper than Taiwan University Store. However, after visiting several times recently, I began to feel disappointed. There are more and more books in simplified characters: (I like the environment of second-hand bookstores, TEDA stores and Shilin stores. Sometimes I also order books on Yabo's blog and books online and then go to the store to get them (all near the mansion). Compared with ordinary second-hand bookstores in Taipei, Zhu Xuan second-hand bookstore in Taishun Street is an anomaly: dirty and messy-but the price is cheaper, and occasionally you can find good books. The most special is the "Jixing Ancient Bookstore" in Qingtian Street. There is a quote from Yin at the door: "People like me are lucky not to starve to death in such an era and environment ...". It is said that I have also been to the Qinghai-Tibet study room, the second-hand bookstore in Taipei with the highest evaluation by mainland scholars. The bookstore is very big and there are many books, but most of them are really old books, but they are not my favorite dishes.
10. Last but not least, it is cheap and of good quality. Books in second-hand bookstores generally cost about 50% off, and many books are in good condition. The discount for poor books will be lower, of course, the price of author's signed books or some out-of-print books may be higher. Some magazines are cheaper, and I have bought a lot of Printed Literary Life, all of which are bought in second-hand bookstores.
