The Buddha statue in front of you can be a Buddha statue in a temple, or a Buddha statue bought by yourself or made by someone. Of course, it is best to have a cautious ceremony when you convert yourself, because converting to religion is a major event in life and a sacred thing. Therefore, once it is determined, it is the first priority to transform as soon as possible, and it is also important to be as serious as possible.
First, we should observe precepts and be clean before the conversion ceremony. Within three to seven days before conversion, you should lead an honest and clean life, avoid killing, stealing (all illegal possession), committing adultery (no normal sexual behavior between husband and wife), talking nonsense (all lies and bad words), eating five spices (pungent food such as onions, garlic and leeks), and not eating alcohol, meat, cigarettes and drugs. Keep your body and mind as clean as possible. Because buddhas and bodhisattvas like clean environment and clean people best. It's best to take seven days off, because this is a filthy world and most people are very unclean. Just keep a clean ring for seven days. There should be no problem. Even if it is not for the conversion ceremony, it is very meritorious to stay for a few days.
Second, take a bath before converting. You need incense if you can.
Third, the Buddha statues we face when we convert are generally the Buddha statues of Sakyamuni, the Buddhist leader of our world.
Fourth, it is best to be presided over by a clean monk when conducting a conversion ceremony. For example, you can invite the monk who presided over the ceremony to your home. When you convert, you can have other people around you, or you can join others in the conversion ceremony. However, we must pay attention to the fact that it is best for everyone present to be a person who keeps the precepts clean and bathes in incense like you when converting. If you can't find such a person, you would rather convert yourself than have other unclean people present.
Fifth, burn incense and sacrifice before conversion. Just order three incense sticks. The offerings are mainly sweet fruits and there should be no meat.
Sixth, the conversion ceremony. Sincerely and solemnly read the oath of conversion: "I am so-and-so, sworn to convert to Buddhism, Dharma and Monk until I become a Buddha" for three times. I kowtow every time I finish reading it. To kowtow to the supreme Buddha is to show respect and seek blessing and protection. Conversion to Buddhism is mainly three conversions, that is, conversion to the three treasures of Buddhism, dharma and monks. The specific significance of converting to Buddhism, Dharma and Monk will be explained in detail below.
Seventh, after the oath of conversion, the ceremony is over.
Please note that the oath of conversion may vary from temple to temple. For example, some temples are "I am so-and-so, I am a Buddha, I am a Dharma, and I am a monk." But my oath above is even bigger, involving Buddhist practice for generations, and when I became a Buddha, "doing my best" was only this life. It's ok, but I hope it's not that bad. The core of Buddhism is to teach people to practice and eventually become a Buddha. Becoming a Buddha is usually not completed in a lifetime, but requires many lifetimes of practice. Therefore, we should make our vows to become Buddhists and ensure that we will never leave Buddhists, Buddhists and monks in the future.
The ideal conversion ceremony is in a temple, presided over by a monk with high practice and witnessed by a group of clean monks, and converted alone or with other clean people. However, it seems that the conversion ceremony of temples is often handled in batches, and there may even be many idle people around. In this case, I think the first thing to do is to be clean. You can ask a monk to host at home or convert yourself.
The simplest conversion ceremony is to burn incense and pray in the temple, and take the oath of conversion in the way of article 6 above, that is, conversion.
It is best for temples to accept conversion every day. Because saving all beings is the fundamental vow of Mahayana Buddhist monks, even if you are a stubborn person, you should try to save him, let alone a person who converted by yourself. As for the sincerity of people's conversion, it is their own business. You don't have "he knows everything". How can you tell if someone is sincere? Even if you have "he knows everything", you may not know everything, because people's hearts are complex, and you can't understand a little fur at all. Even if people are not sincere enough, at least they really want to convert, which is a good thing.
Generally speaking, everyone who wants to convert should be considered sincere. Conversion is the confirmation of a religious belief and does not involve any material interests. What is the reason for the false conversion?
Temples should always accept the conversion of believers, and you can do this:
1, as long as someone proposes to convert, they will accept it immediately and cannot refuse it for any reason.
2. Specify the date of the conversion ceremony. Usually after 3 to 7 days, it is required to hold the net ring specified in the first article above within these days.
No one can attend the conversion ceremony except monks and converts.
4. After the conversion ceremony, a "conversion certificate" can be issued. The contents of this certificate can be composed of the name of the convert, the time and place of the conversion ceremony, and the oath when converting. The monk who presided over the ceremony signed the testimony. This card can charge the actual production cost (I estimate it should not exceed 5 yuan RMB), and no other fees are allowed.
Secular Buddhist associations, such as the Chinese Buddhist Association, can also set up a system to conduct conversion ceremonies for wanted Buddhists, issue "conversion certificates", and of course charge actual production fees.
Conversion to Buddhism does not necessarily require becoming a monk. Monks who become monks specialize in practicing Buddhism, of course, go further than believing in Buddhism, but they don't have to become monks simply to convert to Buddhism. Just like Christianity. You don't have to be a priest to be a Christian.
Don't underestimate the transformation at home. The core of conversion is the conversion of heart. Monks who don't care about Buddha are useless. If family members sincerely worship Buddha, they can get the induction and love of Buddha and Bodhisattva. Buddhism also advocates that people can communicate directly with buddhas and bodhisattvas without any intermediary.
