The first page and the last page refer to the personal information page+signature page. There is no signature column on the new passport, only an electronic signature page and a personal information page.

For the old passport, you need a passport personal information page and a signature page when you apply for a visa. There is a signature column under the remarks of the old passport, which you signed after you got the passport.
