1987 June 12-26, the United Nations held a ministerial conference on drug abuse and illegal trafficking in Vienna, attended by more than 3,000 representatives from 138 countries. The meeting put forward the slogan "Love life, don't take drugs". Delegates unanimously agreed to designate June 26th every year as the International Day against Drugs, so as to draw the attention of all countries in the world to the drug problem and call on people all over the world to make joint efforts to resist the harm of drugs. In February of the same year, the 42nd UN General Assembly passed a resolution, and decided to designate June 26th as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
