After the Red Third Army once occupied Changsha, Li further clarified that "strive for the first victory in the provinces near Wuhan" and ordered the Red Army of all stripes to attack the cities near Wuhan, which eventually formed a situation of "joining forces with Wuhan and drinking horses along the Yangtze River".
