September 17, 2022 is the fourth World Patient Safety Day. The theme of this World Patient Safety Day is "Drug Safety" and the slogan is "Avoid Drug Injury".

The main objectives of this activity include: increasing the attention of the whole society to the harm caused by medication errors, popularizing medication safety knowledge, encouraging patients and their families to participate in self-management of medication safety, and taking effective measures to improve the medication safety level of patients.

The Origin of World Patient Safety Day

World Patient Safety Day was established by the World Health Assembly in 20 19. The current Health Assembly adopted resolution WHA72.6 on global patient safety action, and designated September 17 as World Patient Safety Day.

The goal of World Patient Safety Day is to raise global awareness of patient safety, increase public participation in medical safety, and promote global action to prevent and reduce avoidable medical injuries.

Every year, a new theme is selected, and a key patient safety field is determined, and actions need to be taken in this field to reduce avoidable medical injuries and achieve universal health coverage.
