Zhang Henshui is a famous Zhang Huiti novelist in China and a representative writer of Yuanyang Butterfly School. He is from Qianshan, Anhui Province, formerly known as Xinyuan, and hates water is his pen name. Among Zhang Henshui's works, The Golden Powder Family, The Cause of Crying and Laughing, Eighty-one Dreams and The New Biography of Water Margin are more representative.

Among many works, my favorite is "Golden Powder Family", which is a concentrated display of life materials accumulated by Zhang Henshui in his early journalism career. The work tells the story that Jin Yanxi, the son of the Prime Minister of the Northern Warlords, met a civilian woman, Leng Qingqiu, and pursued it at all costs. Although Leng Qingqiu, a student, was aloof and aloof, she was bound by her absolute trust in Jin Yanxi and entered the marriage hall with him. So he and Jin Yanxi staged an emotional tragedy from falling in love and getting married to getting married and leaving. At the same time, another clue runs through it. Jin Yanxi's father and prime minister Jin Quan's ups and downs in the officialdom and his final sudden death exposed the ugly faces of bureaucrats who were arrogant, extravagant and cheating in the period of Beiyang Warlords.

The Jinfen family criticized the corruption of officialdom ideologically, exposed the sinister and intrigue of officialdom struggle, and reflected the darkness of society. Zhang Henshui's criticism is not just a slogan, but a story itself. It is fully displayed through what the characters have seen and heard in the novel.

The love story in The Golden Powder Family has always attracted readers' attention, especially the love story between Jin Yanxi and Leng Qingqiu. Zhang Henshui also compared it to the love line between Liu Chunjiang and Lian Xiao. One is happy and the other is sad. Leng Qingqiu is a tragedy and Lian Xiao is a comedy.
