China's lunar calendar is a combination of yin and yang, which is based on the movement of the sun and the moon, so adding 24 solar terms can better reflect the cycle of the sun's movement. The formula for planting wheat in the twenty-four solar terms is "cold dew takes root, the first frost pulls out the moss, and beginning of winter grows long", which expresses the planting time and growth characteristics of wheat.
First of all, "cold dew rooting" means that wheat begins to take root in the cold dew season. Wheat at this stage needs sufficient nutrients and water to promote root development, so it needs to be watered and fertilized in time. Then, "the first frost bolting" means that in the first frost season, wheat begins to bolting. At this stage, wheat needs sufficient sunshine and warm climate to promote the growth of stems and leaves, and at the same time, attention should be paid to preventing the invasion of pests and diseases.
Finally, "early winter" means that at the beginning of winter, wheat is ripe and ready for harvesting. Wheat at this stage needs to be protected from freezing injury and kept dry so as not to affect the harvest.
Matters needing attention in planting wheat
1, variety selection: good varieties are the key to high and low yield in the later period. We should choose suitable wheat varieties according to the local growing environment and planting conditions. We should not choose which one has high yield, do not blindly pursue yield, and pay attention to resistance.
2. Deep tillage and intensive tillage: the rotary tillage layer is shallow, generally around 10 ~ 15cm. For the plot where straw is returned to the field, there will be a lot of broken straw in the shallow soil layer after rotary tillage, which leads to a large gap in the soil and uneven soil. After wheat sowing, the wheat seeds can't fully contact with the soil, and there may be a phenomenon of lack of seedlings and broken ridges. It is recommended to carry out deep tillage and intensive cultivation. Of course, rotary tillage also has certain advantages, such as saving time and trouble, wide audience and so on.
