According to the report, this next-generation weapon is to supplement Russia's already powerful S-400 system. This weapon can not only attack high-altitude targets, including ballistic missiles and satellites, but also attack stealth aircraft.
However, the Russian propaganda slogan for the S-500 is strikingly similar to that of the S-400 a few years ago, and it is considered to promote sales to China. So, will China be attracted?
On Russia's latest export weapons list, the name of the S-500 long-range air defense and anti-missile system has recently ranked first, and it has been boasted dreamily: the S-500 system is compatible with 9M82MD, 40N6, 48N6, 9M96, 9M 100, 77N6-N and 77N6-N 1 series missiles.
In these S-500 missile families, there are not only ultra-short-range/short-range, medium-range (medium-short-range/medium-long-range) and long-range/ultra-long-range air defense weapon systems, but also anti-missile weapon systems and anti-spacecraft weapon systems, thus forming a new weapon system with a strike range far exceeding the active air defense missiles of all countries in the world.
Among them, the long-range heavy-duty 9M82MD missile has a range of 450 kilometers and a flight speed of about Mach 7.5, which will be used to attack F-35, F-22 or B- 1 bombers. More importantly, the party using the S-500 can intercept the X-37B to launch weapons outside the adjacent space, and has the ability to cope with the US "playing all over the world in one hour".
Moreover, the S-500 is equipped with an X-band radar, which can detect targets with a reflection cross section of 0.003 square meters away from 150 km, which means that before the F-35, F-22 or B- 1 bombers enter the attack position, the S-500 can use 9M82MD missiles to find and destroy them all.
What scares the United States most is that the S-500 has anti-missile and anti-satellite capabilities, thanks to the 77N6-N and 77N6-N 1 kinetic energy interceptor missiles. The speed of these two interceptors is 7000m/s, and they can attack space targets within 600km and at a height of 200km nearby, including incoming ballistic missiles and low-altitude reconnaissance satellites. Moreover, the response time of the S-500 is less than 4 seconds, and it can intercept as many as 10 incoming ballistic missiles at the same time, and finally destroy the target through kinetic energy impact.
It can be said that it is with such advanced missiles that the combat capability of the S-500 is far stronger than that of the S-400, which is also the biggest selling point of the former.
After the S-400 sold well all over the world because of China's first purchase, Russia introduced the S-500 with more advanced range. Russia has repeatedly stressed that this air defense system is "unique" and "unique in the world", and it can deal with F-35, F-22 or B-/KLOC-0 bombers, and it can also resist satellite missiles. Obviously, this is the best advertisement for the threats facing China.
But now China no longer needs to import this system, because China has made great progress in these requirements in recent years. For example, air defense and anti-missile missiles such as Kinetic Energy -2, Kinetic Energy -3, Hongqi-19 and Hongqi -26 have basically completed their shooting tests and started to be on duty for combat readiness. In this excellent situation, it is no longer attractive for China to promote the S-500.
