Democracy and science are two basic slogans of the New Culture Movement. Democracy advocated by the New Culture Movement refers to the spirit and thought of democracy, which is a bourgeois democratic political system opposed to feudal monarchy. The science it advocates also has two meanings.

It mainly refers to the scientific thought, scientific spirit and scientific method of understanding and judging things, and also refers to specific scientific technology and scientific knowledge.
