Suqian is a prefecture-level city in northern Jiangsu Province. Suqian, formerly known as Xia Xiang, Suyu and Zhongwu, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, located in the northern wing of the Yangtze River Delta and in the north of Jiangsu Province. It is the youngest prefecture-level city in Jiangsu Province, located in the center of Xuzhou City, Lianyungang City and Huai 'an City, and the core city of Xuzhou Metropolitan Area and Jianghuai Ecological Economic Zone. Suqian is the hometown of Xiang Yu, the overlord of Western Chu. It has a history of more than 5,000 years of civilization and a history of 2700 years of city building. It used to be the capital of Zhong Wu, with a long history and a rich collection of people. Known as "the pulse of Chinese civilization, the root of Jiangsu civilization and the soul of Chu-Han culture". Suqian is one of the cradles of wine culture, and has the title of China wine capital, among which Yanghe and Shuanggou are two famous wines. Suqian is surrounded by two freshwater lakes, Rome Lake and Hongze Lake, and many rivers, such as the Grand Canal, the ancient Yellow River and the Huaihe River, pass through it. Emperor Qianlong visited Jiangnan six times and stayed here five times, praising Suqian as "the first spring profit".
