The Seven Heroes of the Warring States refer to the seven strongest vassal states in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty and the Warring States Period (collectively called the Spring and Autumn Warring States Period). Many wars in the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC) greatly reduced the number of vassal states. In the Warring States period (475-22 BC1), the seven most powerful vassal states were Yan, Qi, Chu, Qin, Zhao, Wei and Han, which were called "Seven Heroes of the Warring States" in history.

Compared with the current administrative map, the map of the Seven Heroes in the Warring States Period covers an approximate area of:

Guo Wei: in southwest Shanxi, north Henan and central and eastern Henan;

Zhao Guo: Today's north-central Shanxi and central and northwest Hebei;

Yan Guo: near northern Hebei and southern Liaoning, Beijing and Tianjin;

South Korea: southeastern Shanxi, western Henan and parts of central Henan;

Qin State: Upper reaches of Hanshui River, Shaanxi, eastern Gansu, southern Ningxia, etc.

Qi: north to central Hebei, south to Taishan, west to eastern Henan;

Chu: Hubei, Anhui and southern Jiangsu.
