What are the layout forms of the working foundation of the main equipment in the rolling workshop?
The arrangement of rolling mills in the rolling workshop can be divided into the following categories.

1.3.3. 1 single rack

Single stand is the simplest layout of rolling mill, and the rolling workshop consists of only one workbench, its driving motor and transmission system. This layout is used to:

(1) Two-high reversible rolling mills (bloom mill, slab mill, thick plate mill, universal mill) for rolling giant profiles;

(2) Two-high irreversible rolling mill for rolling steel pipes, cold-rolled steel plates and steel strips;

(3) Four-high mill and multi-high mill for cold-rolled sheet, strip and hot-rolled steel plate.

Several working bases are horizontally arranged in a row and are driven by a motor through a reducer and a gear seat. The advantages of this arrangement are simple equipment, low cost and convenient construction, which has played a great role in developing local iron and steel industry.

This layout is mostly used in H-beam workshops and is gradually being eliminated. Its main disadvantage is that it is driven by a motor, and the rolling speed of each station is the same, so the rolling speed cannot be increased with the increase of the length of the rolled piece (due to the extension of the rolled piece). At the same time, when the rolled piece is sent from one stand to another, it must move laterally, which is inconvenient and limits the improvement of productivity. In a train, according to the different uses of the rolling mill, the number of workstations can reach 2 ~ 5. Horizontal arrangement is used for rolling section steel, wire rod, etc.

The two working stands are arranged in a row according to the rolling direction of the rolled piece, and the rolled piece is rolled in each stand in turn. Each stand is driven independently, and the rotation speed of the roll increases with the extension of the length of the rolled piece. This arrangement is often used for high productivity blooming mills and heavy plate mills.

1.3.3.4 stage type

This arrangement is a combination of the above arrangements. As can be seen from the figure, it is arranged in three rows along the rolling line (in a tandem type). Due to the need of pass design, the second row has three working stands (horizontal type). This arrangement is often used for rolling section steel, and the number of rows and stands depends on the conditions of pass design.

1.3.3.5 continuous type
