I firmly believe this is not a slogan.
We don't know everyone's future. However, one thing is certain-we define our own future.

What is the most terrible thing in life? Lose the future? No, it's a loss of confidence in the future.

Faith is not an empty slogan. There is a program called "I believe" on NPR radio in the United States. From presidents to civilians, they will share their beliefs with the world through their voices. Some people believe in the power of dreams, some believe in the power of failure, some believe in the power of money, and some believe in the power of nothingness. I see the power of faith. Among the top ten people who "touched China" in 20xx, we can see that it was faith that made Liu Wei come up with a method of "playing the piano with both feet". Seven or eight hours a day, leg cramps, toe grinding bleeding bubbles. Three years later, his piano level reached professional level seven. Wei Liu is playing the notes of life with his soul; We can see that it is faith that made Zhu Guangya devote most of his life to the nuclear field from the late 1950s, indifferent to fame and fortune, and become the brightest star in the distant sky. The heroes he represents make our nation self-reliant, self-confident, self-reliant and self-respecting.

In today's China, when people habitually talk about the lack of faith and the spirit of the New Oriental has become the representative of a certain faith among many young people, people on our podium are honored to be the transmitters of various beliefs. Since last year's participation in New Oriental's "Believe in the Future-China University Freshmen's Learning and Planning Public Welfare Tour", every lecturer has been trying to outline all kinds of things about the future to young students: Peng Xia firmly believes that a bright future lies in bringing his expertise to the extreme; Zhou firmly believes that a bright future lies in always being passionate about what you like; Zhu Wei firmly believes that the bright future lies in the analogy in many fields; Xu Li firmly believes that the bright future lies in the future that his efforts can bring enough enjoyment to his parents, and I firmly believe that the bright future lies in his satisfactory explanation to himself every year.

We don't know everyone's future. However, one thing is certain-we define our own future.

Once upon a time, I was as curious and eager for my future as the students in the audience, hoping to know my future through as many ways as possible. Until my junior year, I heard a professor in a western philosophy class: "The future is definitely not something we should know, but something we should try to believe, because the future is the present." I gradually began to understand that knowing and owning may be completely different concepts, and when we prove our firmness and piety to this belief with every action, the future we expect will gradually come true. Because, after all, the future is the next present.

From the department to the college, to the speeches and debates at home and abroad, from the three-foot platform to the project operation to the trainers and lecturers, all the experiences seem to be such firm and pious returns, which makes my progress more firm. Now, whenever I share my ten-year experience with my classmates on the podium, I inadvertently find that the so-called future is a better present, and at the same time, the price paid together with this beauty is increasing. As a result, everyone began to wander between unbearable loss and unbearable lightness, and the root of making this wandering so happy rather than painful is still this firmness and persistence in the future.

I once heard a saying: the biggest feature of being a teacher is not to force progress, but to spare no effort to insist on asking students to make progress. Every time I come down from the podium and talk to my friends about this topic, I will smile, then quietly return to my field and continue to enjoy the sense of accomplishment and pleasure brought by that kind of effort. Frankly speaking, many times, apart from our own unwillingness and efforts, every listener in the audience has become a great driving force for us to surpass ourselves to a great extent, because although no one will change anything because of a lecture, it is likely to be the beginning of some positive change, which is precious in itself and stems from more precious trust in the audience. I often say that the greatest happiness of being a lecturer is being able to say what we believe, and the greatest wish is that the listener can believe what we say. Faced with such trust, our slackness and degeneration will degenerate into a professional original sin, and answering the phone again with the original sin is undoubtedly a blasphemy against this platform full of expectation and trust.

As one of the large-scale public welfare brand activities of New Oriental, the platform of "Believe in the Future-China University Freshmen Learning and Planning Public Welfare Tour" not only gives us the opportunity to show the students fragments related to dreaming about the future, but also encourages us to keep moving forward and move forward again. Everyone is an ordinary individual. When we say that we believe in the future, we actually believe that the future will bring us extraordinary moments. Those moments, let us heartache, or cheer, or even unforgettable. These moments are not about applause, applause, talent and brilliance, but about one thing-how many people we can help and how many things we can change.

I know that the platform of New Oriental has created an extraordinary moment that belongs to us. Behind this platform, there are countless seemingly ordinary colleagues doing seemingly ordinary but detailed work. Whenever we see and hear their stories with our own eyes, we will find that we are never alone on this road full of firmness and piety.

10 10 17. At the end of Zhejiang Ocean University's lecture on "Believe in the Future", Wei Yujun, Marketing Director of Hangzhou New Oriental School, took the stage at the invitation of the lecturer. Picking up the microphone, facing more than 2,500 students, he shared his story: "This is the first time I have come to such a big venue to share with you. I have prepared for this podium for seven years. Seven years ago, I was a staff member who handed water to the lecturer. " In fact, everyone has paid unimaginable time and effort for those extraordinary moments that belong to them. There is a kind of diligence called conscientious, and there is a kind of firmness called a thousand miles a day.

On September 13, I received a phone call from Hu Hui, Marketing Department of New Oriental Education Science and Technology Group, saying that there was a lecture on "Believe in the Future" with a scale of 5,000 people in Polytechnic College of Hebei University of Science and Technology on June 14, and I needed to fly to Shijiazhuang immediately. At the moment, colleagues in the marketing department of Shijiazhuang New Oriental School are debugging audio equipment on the school playground, while preparing to pick up the plane and arrange the hotel. Because it was a special period at that time, and outdoor activities would be affected by the policy, the school temporarily decided to change the lecture time to 14 at 8: 00 a.m. It is said that the school changed its decision. Less than 48 hours after the lecture started, colleagues in the marketing department were already busy in the early hours of 14, and every detail of the truss, background board and stage layout was noticed, including the plan that the noise conference would not affect the residents living nearby, including another lecturer coming from the railway station and encountering traffic jams. At the end of this year's "Believe in the Future-China University Freshmen's Learning and Planning Public Welfare Tour", a clip video of "Believe in the Future" in Nanjing made my eyes shine. It tries to refine the slightly vague concept of "future" into three elements within our reach-dream, life and happiness, and gives the ways to achieve these goals-persistence is a dream, language lights up life, and happiness comes from simplicity. My understanding is that if many people dream of happiness, then all we need is simple persistence. The reason why many people can't persist is that they regard persistence as too utilitarian. What we really need to insist on, what we really insist on all the time, often does not need such deliberate emphasis. If the meaning of persistence becomes simple, the process of persistence will also become happy; If persistence itself can forge our future, its meaning will become simpler.

Think of an English story. In drawing class, the teacher walked up to a little girl and asked, "What are you drawing?" The little girl replied, "The future." The teacher said, "But no one knows what will happen in the future." The girl replied, "We will know later."

The future in my eyes is this: the future has nothing to do with knowledge, but with faith. We don't know the future, but we are gradually filled with hope, gratitude and faith.
