What is the relationship between socialist core values and capitalist core values?
In the report of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, it is proposed to "advocate prosperity, democracy, civilization and harmony, freedom, equality, justice and the rule of law, patriotism, honesty and friendliness, and actively cultivate and practice the socialist core values." As the core value of socialism, it has opened up a new vision of social development in China. Based on this, this paper compares the core values of socialism and capitalism between China and the West. This paper holds that the development of socialist core values should treat differences dialectically, base on China traditional culture, and actively apply them to practice. Key words published in sociological papers Socialist core values Capitalist core values Traditional culture I. Interpretation of core concepts (I) Marxism once defined: "Value is the relationship between the needs of the object and the subject" and value "comes from the relationship between people and external things that meet their needs". Under this concept, values are the fundamental principles and viewpoints that people show in their long-term practice and behavior. For example, it can be externalized into a code of conduct and guidelines that every organization, every group and every individual must abide by. It can be divided into core values and general values. Core values, that is, the part that plays a dominant and leading role in people's value system, play a spiritual role in the behavior of organizations, groups and individuals. (II) Socialist Core Values On the basis of core values, China firmly follows the socialist road, so what are the socialist core values here, and what values and codes of conduct should China pursue? Faced with this problem, the report of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China absorbed and condensed China's traditional cultural theory, paid attention to the current national conditions and world development, and clearly put forward "advocating prosperity, democracy, civilization and harmony, advocating freedom, equality, justice and the rule of law, advocating patriotism, professionalism, honesty and friendliness, and actively cultivating and practicing socialist core values". On this basis, the General Office of the Central Committee of the CPC's Opinions on Cultivating and Practicing Socialist Core Values elaborated the significance, content, purpose, method and planning of this core value. (3) Core Values of Capitalism In fact, the concept of "core values" has never been clearly put forward since the development of capitalism. Looking at the leopard from the inside, the author expounds and describes the slogan of "freedom, equality and fraternity" put forward by French revolutionary robespierre as the core values from countless classic aspects of capitalist society. It is pointed out in "Marxist Judgment on Capitalist Society" that bourgeois ideology with "freedom, equality and fraternity" as its values is hypocritical, idealistic and deceptive. The American Declaration of Independence, the French Declaration of Human Rights and the British People's Charter have completely expressed this core value of capitalism: everyone is born free and has equal rights; National sovereignty belongs to the people, and private property is sacred and inviolable; Put forward slogans such as "freedom, equality, democracy and fraternity" in politics. It can be seen that although the core values of capitalism have a decadent side, it is undeniable that the core values still have a progressive side in the process of promoting historical progress since the development of capitalism. Second, the differences in their core values (I) Social environment and theoretical origins When comparing the differences in their values, we start with the "grand tradition" and analyze their social environment and theoretical origins. In this way, it is possible to thoroughly understand the essential differences between the core values of capitalism and socialism. The core values of capitalism are rooted in the western society where the feudal society is not backward, with freedom, democracy, human rights, fraternity and so on as political slogans, so compared with the feudal society, this is a kind of progress and transcendence. Marx once said: "The productive forces created by the bourgeoisie in its class rule of less than 100 years exceeded all the productive forces created by all previous generations." The ideas it advocated were accumulated in the long-term economic development and constant social revolution, especially in the Renaissance and Industrial Revolution, and were summarized into a large number of classics, in which the ideas were expounded. In the germination and development stage of capitalist economy, its social core values reflect its service for capitalist economic development to a certain extent, so its narrowness and class color are also quite obvious. The birth of socialist core values has condensed China's 5,000-year-old traditional culture and formed on the basis of Marx's theory, combining the characteristics of two ideological trends. On the one hand, as far as China's traditional culture is concerned, China has thought of people-oriented, freedom, rule of law and harmony since ancient times. Mencius emphasized the people-oriented thought and thought that "the people are the most important, the country is the second, and the monarch is the light". "Song of the Five Sons in Shangshu" also said: "People are the foundation of the country, and this is the foundation of the country"; Another example is the concept of harmony. Laozi said: "People everywhere, the land follows the sky, the sky follows the law, and the Tao follows nature." Book of rites? The Doctrine of the Mean says: "To achieve harmony, the position of heaven is important." These all emphasize the harmonious development of heaven, earth and people; As for China's traditional society's emphasis on the rule of law, it is reflected in Han Feizi's works. "Laws, constitutional orders, rewards and punishments must be in the hearts of the people, and rewards depend on careful laws, while punishment is even worse than rape orders." "When the law changes with the times, it will govern, and when it is suitable for governing the world, it will become active. On the other hand, compared with the traditional society in China, the ideas of freedom, equality and rule of law in socialist core values have been further detached and developed, which is due to the introduction of Marxism into China, which is a socialist ideological road based on freedom, equality and rule of law. Therefore, comparing the social environment and theoretical origin of the two, although their core values are sometimes surprisingly consistent, it may be the result of long-term development and communication in modern society. However, due to different theoretical origins and social environments, the same words have different connotations. (2) Comparison of Specific Concepts Some scholars take China and the United States as examples to compare the differences of the core values of socialism and capitalism from the aspects of economy, politics, culture, ecology and society, so as to analyze the social development of the two countries. But here, the author thinks that several aspects are integrated, and * * * has influenced the core values. Therefore, from the background, the author only gives three examples here to reflect his understanding of the difference between the two. Specifically, we choose three aspects to illustrate the distance here. The first is about freedom. Freedom in the core values of capitalism is narrow and abstract with obvious class limitations. At the same time, we should pay attention to its obvious economic color, which is actually to promote the development of capitalist economy. Compared with the freedom in the socialist core values, it advocates that "all members of society share the means of production, enjoy equal rights politically, and let the broadest masses of people enjoy the widest rights." "Secondly, regarding democracy, the concept of democracy in socialist core values is not only based on the concept of capitalism, but also absorbs the connotation of democracy in China's traditional culture and sublimates it with Marxist theory. Therefore, regarding democracy, democracy in the socialist core values is the democracy of the broad masses of the people, and its subject and content have been further expanded. Thirdly, regarding the rule of law, both pay attention to the key role of the rule of law in national governance, especially the establishment and improvement of the legal system. However, due to their different social environment and culture, they have different understandings of some legal concepts. Generally speaking, the rule of law in socialist core values is rooted in socialist public ownership and the people being the masters of the country, while paying attention to the application of "harmony" concept in the legal system. Therefore, from the above three points, the author believes that the social subjects used by socialist core values are more extensive and profound. At the same time, some scholars have pointed out that capitalism has trampled on the achievements of human spiritual civilization while promoting the progress of material civilization, that is, "the bourgeoisie has erased the sacred aura of all occupations that have always been respected and feared ... the bourgeoisie has torn off the veil of warmth covering family relations and turned this relationship into a pure money relationship." Socialism, as the most ideal social form of human society, is not only a high level of material civilization, but also people will completely get rid of alienation and get all-round development. " The superiority of socialism is not only manifested in economy and politics, but also in creating a high level of material civilization, ideological culture and spiritual civilization. "III. Cultivating and Practicing Socialist Core Values (I) Difficulties. However, with the development of today's society, we should see that the core values of capitalism have a positive and progressive side and have played a huge role in promoting social progress. But at the same time, we should also pay attention to the great superiority of the socialist core values practiced by China at present. Based on this, it is very important to deepen the understanding of socialist core values and earnestly practice them. Under the trend of globalization and under the guidance of firmly practicing socialist core values, we should realize that China is facing a series of challenges, and only by fully understanding can it develop better. In this regard, Professor Sun Qiang of Hohai University believes that with the deepening of the modernization process, the socialist core values have encountered a variety of modernity dilemmas: the deconstruction and fracture of traditional values, the challenge and extrusion of diversified social trends of thought, the breeding and spread of trust crisis, the dislocation and deviation of value norms and behavior practice, and the construction of socialist core values needs a modern rescue prescription that is constructed and surpassed in five dimensions. Professor Zeng Jianping of Jiangxi Normal University pointed out that socialist core values mainly face two major challenges in the contemporary era. One is the challenge brought by the popularity and infiltration of so-called "universal values"; The second is the challenge brought by subjectivism, relativism and nihilism in values. (B) the practical path of practicing socialist core values Therefore, based on the above, practicing socialist core values still needs our continuous efforts. The author believes that there are three points that need to be done. First, fully understand the differences between the core values of capitalism and socialism and treat them dialectically. There is an old saying: "Know yourself and know yourself, and you will be invincible. Therefore, while practicing the socialist core values in an all-round way, we should fully understand each other and compare their differences, so as to realize our own advantages, and then draw nutrition from them, so as to achieve further development. This requires us to treat the core values of capitalism dialectically. Know its progress and carefully understand its meaning of "freedom, equality and fraternity". Today, with the development of globalization, we should learn to be tolerant and calm in the face of different values. Second, based on the essence of China traditional culture, it embodies the essence value of China traditional culture. As mentioned earlier, China's socialist core values are rooted in China's traditional culture, which is also the foundation of the country. For the further development of China society, it is necessary to fully understand the value and cultural connotation of self-existence, and seek the inherent uniqueness from traditional culture as a foothold. Third, take the socialist core values as the code of conduct and make full use of them in real life. We should fully realize that the socialist core values can not be regarded as a theory, but as an idea. Therefore, only when it is applied to real life can it play its role, and only when the people regard it as a code of conduct can its true meaning be revealed. Otherwise, further development will only be "an armchair strategist".
