Guangyuan is one of the first demonstration zones of combining agriculture with education in China, a national garden city, a national health city, an excellent tourist city in China, a national new industrialization base, a hot spring town in China, one of the most competitive cities in western China, a military equipment production base in China, and one of the top ten fulcrum hubs of China railway network.
Guangyuan is also one of the regions with the richest tourism resources in Sichuan Province, and it is also a national third-line military base. The National Development and Reform Commission approved Guangyuan as the second batch of national low-carbon city pilot cities, and Guangyuan became the only pilot city in Sichuan Province.
