Yi Kuang and Li Hongzhang, representatives of the Qing government in China, as well as diplomatic representatives from Britain, the United States, Russia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Austria, Belgium, Spain and the Netherlands, failed in the Boxer Rebellion on July 25th (190 1 September 7th) in the twenty-seventh year of Guangxu (the year of Xin Chou) and Eight-Nation Alliance invaded.
The Xin Chou Treaty is regarded as the most unequal treaty in China's modern history. The signing of the "Xin Chou Treaty" further strengthened the imperialists' comprehensive control and plunder of China, which marked that the Qing government completely became the tool for the imperialists to rule China and that China completely became a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society.
