Otherwise, it is likely to produce a sense of "naivety" and "gnawing at the old". 2. Who is standing?
The first word of the original source is "I", which means "I" in modern Chinese. The subject of this statement refers to Confucius. In other words, "standing at thirty" is Confucius' own "standing". This sentence is Confucius' self-evaluation of his life at the age of 30, not others. As Confucius' self-report or life summary, this is more appropriate and timely. Confucius never said, "You should all learn from me" or "You should all compare my words and deeds". Only later generations recognize and admire communication as the motto of keeping pace with saints. As for who to admire, there is no evidence to test. It may be a student of Confucius, or some ancient literati, or even emperors and princes. It is true that "standing at 30" has Confucius' thought, but if you have to stand at 30, isn't it a bit far-fetched, just like exam-oriented education, everyone must do so? Standing too early in your twenties? You can't stand up after 30? If not, it is a proposition worth discussing.
In life planning, everyone's situation is different. It is absurd to plan what you must do successfully and to what extent at which age. No one can foresee the future, so why force the anxiety of "standing at the age of 30" and handcuff your life with invisible goals.
3. What should I stand for?
Scholars have always had different understandings or different degrees of understanding about "what is standing". By the age of 50, man proposes and God disposes, reaching a certain realm of life. "Destiny" is a philosophical concept and a metaphysical ideological category. Sixty years old, indifferent to the outside world, not angry, calm but clear about right and wrong. Seventy years old is not absolute freedom, but still maintains a reasonable social relationship, and at the same time can explain and teach life thoughts from the heart.
Standing at forty without doubt at thirty, with the growth of age and rich experience, people's ideological realm has gradually improved. Confucius 15 to 40 years old is still a life stage of learning and understanding. Therefore, it is not Confucius' intention to learn that "standing at thirty".
