This is my feeling after reading the book Lifelong Learning by Huang, a former White House scholar and former managing director of Intel Corporation.
As a successful person in the workplace, Huang explained an eternal proposition that seems simple but not recognized by everyone with his rich life experience: everyone can be his own hero, provided that he must recognize his comfort zone and be familiar with the boundary, and then break it and approach his limit.
After reflecting on the process of personal growth and entrepreneurship, the author realized that he had paid too much attention to his career and work before, thus losing many other equally important things, such as physical health, emotional grasp, interpersonal relationship and so on. So he decided to change.
He chose six points that are vital to life: physical health, emotional control, breakthrough in thinking, interpersonal relationship, career work and wealth management to learn and make up for it. He called this process "MBA of life".
He spent a year traveling around the world, learning from more than 20 top experts from different countries and regions, and summed up six valuable experiences.
Lesson 1: Health
As the saying goes, health is the capital of revolution. Many people understand this truth, but few people can do it. When they are young, they always try to motivate themselves with such slogans, but they will not find a balance between their career and health.
Huang realized from his own experience that success at the expense of health is meaningless. He took the initiative to find a well-known fitness instructor for training and participated in his "12-week muscle gain and fat loss training course". After 12 weeks of training, Huang's body fat rate dropped from 18.6% to 8.8%, reaching the standard of professional athletes.
Lesson 2: Emotion
Huang believes that "if you don't care about emotions, you will be influenced by them". Under the pressure of work and life, his emotional problems became more and more serious, thus realizing the importance of controlling emotions, and he listed emotional management as the second lesson.
He attended the micro-expression course of psychologist Paul Aikman, and learned how to find his own emotional incentives and how to find appropriate ways to change them, so as to change his mood and rewrite his life script.
Lesson 3: Thinking
Thinking affects emotions. If you want to be the master of your emotions, you must change your way of thinking, let thinking determine the occurrence of emotions and control the changes of emotions.
The change of thinking mode (thinking disorder) can be strengthened through a series of training, such as learning to tell stories, learning to jump out of conventional thinking and learning to improvise.
Lesson 4: Relationships
Everyone is a social person, and it is a compulsory course for everyone to handle all kinds of interpersonal relationships, including interpersonal relationships and the influence between people and society, individuals and organizations.
According to Diodini's theory, influence can be summarized into six principles:
principle of reciprocity
Rare principle
Principle of authority
Principle of continuity and consistency
Social identity principle
Preference principle
Lesson 5: Occupation
Career is the focus and goal pursued by many people. Huang's own career is also very successful. He still chose to pursue further studies, because he admitted in his book: "Although I learned high-level cutting-edge knowledge at Harvard Business School and analyzed and solved a large number of business cases, I still encountered new problems when I started my own business."
Lesson 6: Wealth
As the saying goes, if you don't manage money, money will ignore you. The acquisition of wealth is everyone's dream goal. How to acquire, maintain and grow, there are many knowledge and tricks, and we need to keep learning and keep pace with the times.
Financial experts believe that people's demand for wealth can be divided into four levels:
Wealth is guaranteed.
Rich
Financial independence
Financial freedom
Now many people are talking about financial freedom, but the standard of financial freedom is different for everyone. A healthy view of wealth is to find your own position, don't praise the so-called freedom of wealth blindly, and don't make yourself a slave to wealth and money.
To realize the appreciation and preservation of wealth, we must learn wealth management. Many people think that they are not millionaires and do not need to learn financial management. This concept is very wrong. In any case, we should make rational use of financial management to preserve and increase the value of our assets, ensure financial independence, and strive to achieve wealth freedom.
Through the book Lifelong Learning, we understand the importance of keeping lifelong learning. No matter who you are, no matter what situation you are in, learning is the only magic weapon to change the status quo, challenge yourself and improve yourself.
As long as you persevere in your pursuit, keep the high learning momentum and never give up, everyone may become their own salvation hero.
