Since February 200012000, AirAsia Thailand launched the concept of low cost and only providing basic services, it has owned more than 48 routes, including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Macau, China, the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar, and established two joint ventures, AirAsia Thailand and AirAsia Indonesia. The number of its aircraft has increased from the initial two to the current 28.

February 3, 2004 was the first day of Thai AirAsia's navigation. On that day, three domestic routes from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Phuket and Ha 'ai were opened. In 9 days, the flight from Bangkok to Kongjing will be opened. Internationally, the first flight from Bangkok to Singapore was successfully made on February 16. During the same period, three domestic routes from Bangkok to Wulong, Chiang Rai and Nakhon Ratchasima and two international routes from Bangkok to Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur were opened. In June, the route from Bangkok to Kota Kinabalu was opened.

On July 5th, AirAsia Thailand successfully made its maiden voyage to Macau, becoming the first low-cost airline in Southeast Asia to land in Macau. Since its establishment, the network of AirAsia Thailand has been expanding. In March 2005, it became the first foreign low-cost airline to be allowed to enter the mainland of China. The route from Bangkok to Xiamen was opened in April, and the route from Bangkok to Shenzhen was added in July 2007.
