"Jingbo Lake" island reef supply ship. China has a vast sea area and many islands and reefs. In order to ensure the life and combat readiness of officers and men guarding reefs on these islands and reefs, the China Navy has used various landing craft, which has well met the needs of engineering and deployment on islands and reefs without wharf facilities.

With the gradual completion of the construction of special docks for coastal islands and reefs, landing ships are no longer suitable for the replenishment of these islands and reefs because of the lack of special cargo lifting facilities. So the China Navy developed a special island reef supply ship for this purpose.

The first generation of island reef supply ship is actually equivalent to a large passenger and cargo ship, with its own cargo crane, which can complete the supply operation at the dock without large lifting equipment. At the same time, the larger personnel accommodation can support a large number of officers and men to rotate, and it is equipped with four mobile work boats for the transfer of materials between supply ships and reef castles, which can provide daily supplies for Xisha and Nansha reef castles with no docks and only high-rise houses.

Two supply ships of this type were built, namely Dongting Lake (883) and Jingbo Lake (884). After serving for more than 20 years, the No.2 ship has provided great support for our navy's South China Sea Reef Guard Force.

Fuxian lake second generation island reef supply ship. Compared with the first generation of island reef supply ships, the second generation of island reef supply ships has three times as many oil tanks, water tanks and cold storage as before. Beds can meet the needs of hundreds of officers and men guarding reefs, and their speed and endurance have also been greatly improved.

The second generation of island reef supply ship is characterized by the gantry of four high-seas work boats in the middle of the hull. This kind of gantry adopts advanced automatic control technology, and is equipped with vertical wave compensation device, which can retract the working boat weighing 10 ton in high sea conditions. Except for the extreme weather in typhoon season, it can ensure the supply of high-rise buildings most of the time, which greatly improves the holding capacity of our country's reef-guarding troops in Hainan.
