Leping is located in the transition zone from the mountainous area in northeast Jiangxi to Poyang Lake Plain. Leping town Bridge and other towns are called "the hometown of Gan Opera" in Leping, and the famous "Leping Opera" is also called "Gaoqiang", which is the main tribe of Gan Opera in history.

With the formation and development of Gan Opera in Leping, the ancient stage in Leping also appeared and increased one after another, and gradually became a unique architectural art closely related to Gan Opera. Compared with the brilliant Jiangxi Opera, the ancient stage architecture is more brilliant. There are villages, ethnic groups, chambers of commerce, private houses, enthusiastic monks or donors who are willing to raise funds to build the urban and rural stage in Leping.

Leping ancient stage is not only numerous and widely distributed, but also diverse and colorful in style. In terms of attributes, it can be divided into five types: ancestral platform, perpetual platform, temple platform, guild platform and family platform. Due to historical reasons, temples, halls and homes have all disappeared with the changes of society in the past years. Leping in the true sense can be called an ancient stage.
