On August 24th, 1922, railway workers in Changxindian went on strike.
In June, the railway bureau of Changxindian Workers' Club proposed to dismiss the general manager and foreman, and admitted that the club had the right to recommend personnel and increase wages, but it was too late to get a reply. On August 23rd, Deng Zhongxia, secretary of China Trade Union Secretariat, came to Changxindian from Beijing, called a meeting of workers' representatives and decided to strike. The strike began on the 24th. More than 3,000 workers held a swearing-in meeting at Niangniang Palace, holding white flags with slogans such as "I would rather die than eat" and "Breaking the autocratic capital". Cao Kun sent troops to suppress and forced workers to return to work. The workers refused to give in. Zhengzhou railway workers launched a unity strike at this time, completely interrupting the north-south traffic of the Beijing-Han railway. Railway workers in Beijing-Suiyuan, Beijing-Zheng Feng and Zheng Tai also expressed their support for the strike of railway workers in Changxindian, and said that if the demands of the strikers are not met within three days, all roads will start a general strike. The strike lasted two days. On the 26th, the Railway Bureau was forced to negotiate with the workers' representatives, and agreed to all conditions except the workers' right to participate in the personnel affairs of the Railway Bureau. On the 26th, the workers officially resumed work.
Now this factory is still there, called Erqi Vehicle Factory, which is located in Changxindian Town, Fengtai District, Beijing, next to Beijing-Guangzhou Railway.
