Songpan is located on the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, northeast of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, and its geographical coordinates are between 32 06 ′-33 09 ′ north latitude and102 38 ′-10415 ′ east longitude. Pingwu County in the east, Maoxian County in the south, Beichuan County in the southeast, Hongyuan County and Heishui County in the west and southwest, Jiuzhaigou County and ruoergai county in the north. The county is 2850 meters above sea level. The county covers an area of 8339 square kilometers. The county seat is 335 kilometers south of Chengdu. [ 1]

Songpan has a long history. After Qin destroyed Shu in 3 16 BC, county-level counties were established, Shexian county was established, and Songzhou was established in the first year of Wude (6 18). Songpan was named after the establishment of Songzhouwei, Panzhouwei and Songpanwei in Hongwu period of Ming Dynasty. Songpan Hall and Songpan Zhili Hall were cleaned up. In the second year of the Republic of China (19 13), Songpan Zhili Hall was changed to Songpan County, and county-level buildings are still in use today. [ 1]

Songpan has developed and convenient transportation and is located in the center of the golden tourist line in western Sichuan. The west line of the Ninth Ring Road runs through the county along the Minjiang River. Jiuhuang Airport is only 25 kilometers away from the county seat, and Songpan Station of Cheng Lan High-speed Railway is also under construction. [ 1]

Songpan's natural landscape is complex and diverse, with complete categories, a large number and high grade. It has national famous scenic spots such as Huanglong, Munigou and Songpan Ancient City.
