Zhang Qingyun has studied calligraphy for more than 20 years, and advocates "preserving the past and promoting the new, chasing Qin and Han dynasties, returning to the Jin and Tang Dynasties and carrying forward the times". He is a practitioner of "neoclassicism" in calligraphy. Li Shu started with Zhang Qian, then studied the Eastern Han Dynasty stele, looked up the bamboo slips and silks in the book, pursued silence and scattered images, learned the "two kings" in cursive script at first, then studied Mi Fei and Wang Duo, with an uninhibited attitude, and recently studied the silk slips of Chu, so he was good at all kinds of styles.

Zhang Qingyun's works won many awards in the exhibition, and won the first prize in the junior group in the National Hard Pen Calligraphy Competition for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Party. His works were selected into the book China Hard Pen Calligraphy Appreciation Dictionary, exhibited in Beijing Military Museum, and won the first prize of the first national "Yucai Cup" national calligraphy competition, and the first prize of the "Lushan Cup" national calligraphy competition sponsored by Hunan Calligraphers Association.

Zhang Qingyun's paintings and calligraphy works have been published and featured in Calligraphy Newspaper, China Fine Arts Newspaper, Calligraphy Guide, Poetry Magazine, Hunan Daily, Sanxiang Metropolis Daily and Guangzhou Daily. His works have been exhibited and collected in Hunan Provincial Museum and Yiyang Museum. His works have entered the auction many times, and the transaction rate is high. It has also been appreciated and collected by friends from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and other countries and regions, and has been compiled into dictionaries and celebrity ceremony works.
