The strategic missile force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, referred to as the Second Artillery Corps for short, is the strategic force directly under the jurisdiction of the Central Military Commission and the core force for China to implement strategic deterrence.
The Second Artillery Corps is a powerful nuclear counterattack force composed of short-range, medium-range, long-range and intercontinental missile units, as well as combat support, technical support and logistics support units such as engineering, intelligence, reconnaissance, geodesy, calculation, meteorology, communication, chemical defense and camouflage.
The Second Artillery Corps curbed the enemy's use of nuclear weapons against China. When the enemy launches a nuclear attack on China, it will carry out the orders of the high command, independently or jointly with the strategic nuclear forces of other services, and carry out effective self-defense counterattack against the enemy to attack the enemy's important strategic targets.
The Government of China has solemnly stated many times that China will not be the first to use nuclear weapons at any time and under any circumstances, nor will it use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear-weapon States and nuclear-weapon-free zones. However, if it is attacked by nuclear weapons, it will not hesitate to launch a nuclear counterattack and carry out limited and effective nuclear retaliation.
There are many kinds of ground-to-ground strategic missiles and conventional tactical missiles in China, including short-range missiles (range 1000 km), medium-range missiles (range 1000-3000 km), long-range missiles (range 3000-8000 km) and intercontinental ballistic missiles (range over 8000 km). It has the ability to launch day and night under various complex meteorological conditions. These missiles are characterized by long range, great destructive power, high hit accuracy, strong penetration and survivability. There are supporting facilities such as operational command and protective engineering. It can be launched either in a fixed way or in a mobile way, with strong survivability.
