Most dialects in Zhejiang belong to Wu dialect, so many dialects can't be distinguished by Zhejiang people, all because of the multi-ethnic mixed culture, which leads to language confusion caused by different words, tones, speech speed and expression methods. Sometimes even people from the same county may not understand each other's language. There are as many as 88 dialects in Zhejiang Province.
During the Spring and Autumn Period, after the establishment of the wuyue regime in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, the ancestors of Zhuang, Dong and Buyi were destroyed by Chu. During the Six Dynasties, a large number of Han Chinese entered wuyue, forming Jiangdong dialect. Because Wu is in the north, it is closer to the direction of Han migration, so it is named Wu. Wuyue aborigines sheltered in the mountains and waited for an opportunity to attack the city. This is the mountain Vietnamese. Today, there are many place names in Wuyue dialect in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, such as Gusu, Wuxi and so on. Wu dialect is very similar to the so-called Shaoxing Vietnamese. In ancient times, Wu language and Yue language can be regarded as the same language, and both belong to Dong-Tai language. Up to now, Wu language and Yue language have already merged, and there is nothing to distinguish.
Wu dialect is the product of ancient Central Plains civilization, and it is the land of hundreds of leaps and bounds. Wuyue has been unified countless times, and now it is generally unified. Now the traditional Chinese characters spoken by Wudi have become northern Wu dialect, and the traditional Chinese characters spoken by Yuedi have become southern Wu dialect.
Now the language of China is Wu, and Vietnamese is the abbreviation of Vietnamese. In ancient times, the whole territory of Jiangsu was under the control of Yue State for a long time, so it is meaningless to talk about the problem out of the background of the times. Of course, Wu dialect is also spoken in Ningbo now. Wu dialect is the abbreviation of wuyue dialect, Fujian has Min dialect, and Min dialect is the abbreviation of Min Yue dialect.
Generally speaking, in the Spring and Autumn Period, Jiangsu and Zhejiang were indeed a combination of wuyue and wuyue. Why Shaoxing dialect is called Wu dialect instead of Vietnamese is mainly to avoid confusion and distinguish it from Cantonese and Vietnamese.
