1986, the Guangzhou Municipal Committee decided to hang a huge slogan of "reunifying the motherland and rejuvenating China" at Guangzhou Railway Station. To this day, this slogan remains on the station building and becomes the symbol of Guangzhou train. There are two slogans hanging. On the one hand, Guangzhou belongs to the forefront of reform and opening up. Residents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and overseas Chinese come to China by train, and Guangzhou is usually the first city to arrive.

On the other hand, in the Pearl River Delta region of Guangdong at that time, millions of foreigners came to Guangdong by train from all over the world, and Guangzhou was their only place to go.

The development of history

The original site of Guangzhou Railway Station is located in Dashatou, the southeast corner of Guangzhou. It was originally named Dashatou Railway Station and was built in 19 1 1, which is the terminal of the Hua section of Guangzhou-Kowloon Railway.

After the war, Dashatou Station was expanded into the starting station and terminal of Guangzhou-Kowloon, Guangdong-Han passenger trains, and renamed as guangzhou east railway station, becoming the most important passenger train station in Guangzhou.

After the founding of New China, the China section of Guangzhou-Kowloon Railway was renamed as guangzhou-shenzhen railway, and the former guangzhou east railway station was renamed as Guangzhou Station on 195 1.

1953, the railway ferry from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Shiweitang Station was completed and put into use, which enabled the vehicles of Guangzhou-San Railway to cross the line with Guangdong-Han and Guangzhou-Kowloon Railways.
