The academic consultation system means that the relevant departments of Peking University first investigate ten kinds of students, report them in time after finding them, and contact the school mental health consultation center, employment guidance center, student financial aid center and other departments for help according to the specific conditions of students. It is understandable that students get attention from schools because of economic poverty and illness, but "extreme thinking" has aroused strong doubts from public opinion. Because of its fuzziness, this standard easily conflicts with the tradition of "inclusiveness and freedom of thought" that Peking University prides itself on.

Aim at the crowd

From 20 10, 1 1, Peking University began to pilot the academic consultation system for students in the Medical Department and Yuanpei College. The "key students" in the consultation include ten types of students, such as academic difficulties, extreme thinking, psychological fragility, economic poverty, transfer, independent life, internet addiction, employment difficulties, serious illness and violation of discipline.

Peking University Student Affairs Office, who is in charge of this work, introduced that the pilot department should first investigate these ten types of students, report them in time after finding them, and contact the school mental health counseling center, employment guidance center, student financial assistance center and other departments for assistance according to the specific situation of the students. At present, the pilot projects of Yuanpei College and Medical Department are nearing completion. It is expected that after May, the consultation system will be promoted throughout Peking University.
