Suzhou Institute of Urban Construction and Environmental Protection is the only subordinate university named after "environmental protection" in China. It is headed by the Ministry of Construction and invested by the Ministry of Construction and the State Environmental Protection Administration. Later, it was reorganized into a university led by the Ministry of Construction, the State Environmental Protection Administration and Jiangsu Province. It is also the only university in China that specializes in training environmental management and technical personnel.
