The nighthawk (Caprimulgusindicus) is also called a female mosquito repellent. It often crouches on wooded hillsides or branches during the day. When resting on a tree, its body clings to the branches like a dead tree, so it is commonly known as sticking bark.

Its main characteristics are short and wide mouth, well-developed mouth and tubular nostrils. The body feathers are soft and dark brown, and there are fine horizontal spots and white spots in the throat. Male birds also have white spots on their tails, which are particularly obvious when flying.

Nighthawk's feather color is very similar to bark, and it has a good protective color, which is extremely difficult to find. Often active at night, very active at dusk, constantly catching mosquitoes, flies, moths and other insects in the air. When you fly, your wings can be stirred slowly, or you can glide for a long time. When you catch insects, you can suddenly fly around in twists and turns. When you meet the enemy, you can fly quickly and silently. I often sing at night and make a continuous monosyllabic cry, which is slightly like "tower, tower, tower, tower". Breeding from May to July every year, never nesting, laying eggs on the ground, rocks, dense coniferous forests, bushes, weeds or shrubs. Two eggs are laid each time, and the eggs are white with grayish brown and dark gray spots, with an average size of 30.7-22.7 mm. During the day, female birds hatch eggs. Dawn is taken over by the male bird. It is a famous beneficial bird in agriculture and forestry because it is addicted to insects such as LEPIDOPTERA and COLEOPTERA. This kind of bird spreads all over the eastern part of China, from the northeast to Hainan Island, and to Gansu and Tibet in the west.
