Guangdong Lions Club is a social charity voluntary service organization with independent legal personality, which is specially approved by the State Council and registered in Guangdong Provincial Civil Affairs Department. Its competent unit is Guangdong Disabled Persons' Federation. The main members are composed of middle class and professionals. Adhering to the tenet of "helping others and serving the community", the Lions Club of Guangdong actively carries out social services such as helping the disabled, helping students, respecting the elderly, caring for orphans, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, medical and health care, community service and emergency assistance. As of March 20 12, Guangdong Lions Club has 77 service teams with more than 2,500 members. Voluntary service organization refers to a non-profit organization established according to law with the purpose of voluntary service. Voluntary service organizations can take the form of social organizations, social service agencies, foundations and other organizations.
