In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Lu Bu is called the first valiant soldier in the Three Kingdoms. Lu Bu was Ding Yuan's adopted son when he appeared. Because Ding Yuan opposed Dong Zhuo, Lu Bu defeated Dong Zhuo for a period of time, but later he was bought by Su Li with a red hare. Tian Fang painted a halberd and went to Dong Zhuo to kill Ding Yuan and became a father and son with Dong Zhuo, so he was called a slave of the three surnames by Zhang Fei.
