It is a sub-administrative region under the jurisdiction of Taipei County, Taiwan Province Province, adjacent to Taipei City.

1950 or so, a group of mainlanders who moved from northern Chinese mainland to Taiwan Province Province opened a breakfast shop mainly selling soybean milk in the second section of Yonghe Road at the bridgehead of Zhongzheng Bridge in Yonghe.

This is the origin of "Yonghe Soymilk", which I think is similar to Shaxian snack in Fujian.
