Development history
1997165438+1On October 20th, the United Nations General Assembly declared 20001year as the International Year of Volunteers in its resolution 52/ 17. This year, four goals of the International Year of Volunteers were launched: strengthening awareness, facilitation, promotion and volunteer network.
In 2006, the International Year of Volunteers, the General Assembly adopted various suggestions on how governments and the United Nations system can support voluntary work (General Assembly resolution 56/38 of 5 February 2006), suggesting that governments should create an enabling environment to further support voluntary action.
On June 22nd, 2002, the United Nations General Assembly, in its resolution 57/ 106, called for measures to ensure that International Volunteer Day, as a follow-up activity of the International Year of Volunteers, can fully develop its potential.
The goal of commemorating the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers is to consolidate the achievements of the past decade and maintain the development momentum created by the International Year of Volunteers. The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) was appointed as the coordinator of the 10th anniversary activities, and will officially launch the activities on February 5th, with the time of 20 10+65438.
