Looking at the land of China, there are countless famous mountains and rivers. Why are these five mountains honored as five mountains and have a lofty status?
This has to start from the Zhou Dynasty more than 3,000 years ago.
Huaxia civilization, from the establishment of the first slavery dynasty in Xia Qi, turned the public world into a family world, which lasted for 47 1 year and was destroyed by the Shang Dynasty. The Shang Dynasty passed from 17 to 3 1, which lasted for more than 500 years. The last king, Shang and Zhou, had no choice but to be destroyed by the Zhou tribe living in Qishan, Shaanxi Province.
After the collapse of Shang Dynasty, Zhou tribe entered the whole dynasty from a remote corner and needed to manage a large area of land in the East. Then the question is, how to effectively manage such a vast land?
The Zhou Dynasty then put forward "Is it the land of kings under the heaven?" The slogan "Those who possess territory are not princes" comes from The Book of Songs Xiaoya Gu Feng Zhi Shi Bei Shan, which means that all the land in the world belongs to the son of heaven, and all the people in the world are subjects of the son of heaven. In other words, the land is mine and the people are mine. You all have to listen to me. Institutionally speaking, the enfeoffment system is adopted, that is, a number of vassal States are enfeoffed throughout the country, and the princes are used to "screen the Zhou Dynasty" because most of these princes are descendants of brothers.
However, the world is still too big, and Zhou Wang still has some concerns, fearing that the partiality of his ministers will weaken Zhou's majesty for a long time. Therefore, Zhou often goes to various places to patrol and brush away the sense of existence. This kind of patrol was called hunting patrol at that time, which was quite dignified. According to "Historical Records", "the emperor patrolled the hunting, and the princes gave up their houses", that is, the princes wanted to clean the main hall of their homes for the use of the emperor. In that vassal state, all the surrounding governors will come to worship.
Seeing this, some people may ask, what does this have to do with the Five Mountains? Of course it matters. You think, the five mountains of Mount Tai are distributed in the east, west, north and south, with the integrity of spatial orientation. Isn't it a symbol of "under the sky"? When the son of heaven came to these places, he looked up and looked down at all beings, and the whole world had a panoramic view, and all the people were ministers. This feeling must be leverage.
And these five mountains are all high in the clouds, and the son of heaven climbs very high, which seems to be connected with the father. Naturally, all people felt the majesty of the son of heaven. Slowly, the princes "will approach their land and face it."
Later emperors followed this example and often climbed these five mountains tirelessly. When Xuan Di arrived in the Han Dynasty, a prescribed sacrificial system was formed. There are five temples and three others in Mount Tai every year.
So these five mountains are closely connected with the imperial power, have supreme authority, are honored as "Five Mountains", and begin to appear in the spiritual vision of the nation with a sacred attitude.
